Maintenance Engineer

PURPOSE OF JOB
To maintain the serviceability and accuracy of all factory plant, machine tools and equipment in a multi skilled capacity.
MAIN DUTIES
1)Mechanical: Respond promptly to machine breakdowns. Investigate faults and action repair work with the aid of the maintenance computer data system where appropriate. Use of various test equipment for fault finding and analysis. Strip, overhaul and repair all types of machine tools, plant and equipment. Read drawings and manuals to aid repair and service. Record on computer all breakdowns with faults, parts used, actions and times. Check and test M/C's on completion of repair or PM's. Effective liaison with production and hand over of work.
2)Mechanical: Install and commission machinery.
3)Mechanical: Manufacture parts in support of the maintenance and guarding of machinery
4)Mechanical M/S: Carry out various electrical fault finding repair and installation tasks:- Connect and disconnect supplies for equipment and M/C moves, test circuits and components e.g. solenoids, motors. Interpret wiring diagrams etc, plus carry out electrical preventative maintenance work, and able to use various test instruments.
5)M/S: Test and ensure all safety systems are working correctly
6)M/S: Comply with the maintenance PM system and advise on changes to programme, frequency, scope of work etc
7) Use of Fork Lift Truck and other lifting equipment compatible with the duties of the Multi-Skilled Job Description.
8)Overhaul equipment for spares.
9)Write basic programmes to test cnc m/c systems.
10) Carry out duties compatible with this job and the employees’ individual skills as required by management
Qualifications
BTEC National Certificate
or City and Guilds - Mechanical
Experience
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
Hours of Work Mon - Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm
